What are Superabrasives?
Diagrind wheels are impregnated or plated with either diamond or Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) in
order to provide an effective, efficient method to grind materials that are extraordinarily resistant
to conventional abrasives.
Diamond and CBN Superabrasives have specific applications in terms of material to be ground. Diamond,
for instance, is extremely effective in grinding carbide, glass and ceramic. CBN is generally used when
grinding high-speed and tool steels with a Rockwell "C" hardness of more than 50.
Diagrind has over 25-years of experience in the Superabrasive internal grinding industry. Our initial
line of diamond bonded mandrels on carbide shanks remains largely intact… am impressive feat considering
the ever-changing industrial environment of the past years. With the introduction of the synthetic
Superabrasive CBN and its proven steel-cutting abilities, Diagrind created a line mirroring the diamond
wheels and using the same standard Diagrind bond (VM, or vitreous metal bond) in order to expand our
services to yet another problem area in internal grinding.
Both diamond and CBN wheels are available not only in the standard Diagrind bond, but with a variety of
bonds and grit sizes in order to specifically meet the needs of each of our customers. Depending on the
task at hand, diamond and CBN wheels can be made in VM bond, metal bond, resin bond, vitrified bond, or
plated. Grit sizes range from 30/40 to 20,000 (0-1 micron), depending on bond type and wheel size.
With over 25-years experience in the industry, Diagrind can provide the answers to your most "Super-"abrasive
internal grinding questions.
