Using the production plant of his Ideal Carbide Die Company as a proving ground, Ingolf Sneva pioneered the use
of diamond mandrels. Patent refining and constant testing led Sneva to form and market a line of diamond bonded
carbide shank mandrels with his own special vitreous metal (VM) bond. Today, that initial line of products has
evolved into Diagrind, Inc.
In 1975, father and son Peter and Donald Sommer purchased Diagrind from Sneva and dedicated themselves to the same
standards of quality and innovation upon which the company was founded.
Through the years under Sneva and the Sommers, Diagrind has kept pace with the rigorous demands of the internal
grinding industry by adding an entire line of Cubic Boron Nitride (CBN) mandrels to complement the existing
diamond line. Now working with a variety of vitreous metal, metal, resin, vitrified and plated bond systems,
Diagrind can accommodate the specific needs of customers with standard and specially designed internal grinding tools.
Today, Diagrind continues to apply the tradition of precision and innovation upon which it was founded. Current
president Donald Sommer and the dedicated employees behind the Diagrind name are committed to the task of remaining
on the cutting edge of the internal grinding industry.
